Body Mass Index Calculator

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a mathematical formula to assess relative body weight and is one of the most accurate ways to determine a possible health risk due to the addition of extra pounds.

To get your Body Mass Index, please enter your height and weight and then click the "Calculate" button.

Height ft. in.
Weight lbs.

Body Mass Index (BMI) Weight Status
Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5-24.9 Normal
25.0-29.9 Overweight
30.0 and Above Obese
Body Mass Index is a convenient tool that is sometimes used as an indication of health. Body Mass Index can be the same for a muscular person in excellent physical condition as it is for a person with excess body fat.

For example, the Body Mass Index of a weight lifter who is 5ft. 9in. and 225 lbs. is the same as a 5ft. 9in. person with excess body fat. The Body Mass Index is 33.2

There is increasing evidence that height and its relationship to weight is an indicator of health. The above example, while true, is an extreme. There are far more people in the U.S. with a Body Mass Index of 33.2 that are obese rather than weight lifters.

What all of this means is simply, BMI is an indicator to be used in conjunction with other evidence to determine the state of your health. It is always best to consult a physician.

Weight Loss Hypnosis attempts to help people modify their behavior so that they can bring their relationship of height and weight into balance. You can lose weight by listening to a hypnosis cd. We find that this works for most people. If you would like to try hypnosis purchase Weight Loss Hypnosis CD.
